Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- If using, fold in chocolate chunks or chips.
Baking
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Top each dough ball with a few chocolate chunks and a pinch of flaky salt if desired.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers still look soft.
Cooling
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Letting the cookies cool in the pan helps them hold their shape and improves texture. These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
