  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts e.g., walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt for sprinkling on top

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar; mix well.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, and blend well. Then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. If using, fold in any optional add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
  3. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Brownies can be stored in a covered container for up to a week. For cleaner cuts, allow them to cool completely or chill briefly before slicing.
