Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar; mix well.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and blend well. Then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
- If using, fold in any optional add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts.
Baking
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Brownies can be stored in a covered container for up to a week. For cleaner cuts, allow them to cool completely or chill briefly before slicing.
