Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Make sure yeast is fresh
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup baking soda For boiling water
  • 1 large egg (beaten) For egg wash
  • Coarse sea salt For sprinkling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and salt. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually add the flour and mix until a slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 450°F (230°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil, adding baking soda carefully.
  2. Once the dough has risen, roll it into ropes about ½ inch thick and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Carefully boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds.
  4. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Brush each bite with the beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.
  6. Arrange pretzel bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm. Can be reheated in the air fryer for about 4 minutes. Dough can be made ahead.
