  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tbsp milk Can also use any dairy-free alternative.
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
For the cinnamon swirl
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
For serving
  • 1 pinch extra cinnamon sugar Optional for topping.

Preparation
  1. In a microwave-safe mug, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; stir until just combined.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.
  4. Spoon the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter in the mug and gently swirl it in using a fork or knife for that classic cinnamon roll effect.
Cooking
  1. Microwave the mug on high for about 40 to 60 seconds, checking for doneness. The top should look set but still soft.
  2. Let it sit in the microwave for about a minute before eating to allow the texture to settle.

Notes

Use a medium-to-large microwave-safe mug to prevent overflow. Optional: warm the mug with hot water beforehand for a better experience. A simple drizzle of icing or a dusting of cinnamon sugar can enhance the flavor.
