  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Provides flavor to the butter.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary, or a combination) Enhance flavor; feel free to mix.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds brightness to the dish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs, and lemon juice. Mix until fully combined and creamy.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Carefully place the seasoned tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
  3. Transfer tuna steaks to a plate and top each with about a tablespoon of garlic herb butter, allowing it to melt slightly.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy your gourmet meal!

Notes

Use a meat thermometer for doneness; aim for 125°F for medium-rare. Let tuna sit at room temperature before cooking for even cooking. Use high-quality tuna for best flavor. For a bolder flavor, add a splash of soy sauce. Garlic herb butter can be made in advance.
